FLEOA Foundation Scholarship Program

 

Who is Eligible?

The 2010 Class of High School graduates who are the children of current, retired or deceased members of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association.

How to Apply

High School graduates of the Class of 2010 are to submit the following , POSTMARKED by   July 15, 2010:

1.  The Scholarship Application

2.  A transcript of your high school grades, with class ranking, SAT or other aptitude test scores.
 
3.  A copy of your diploma/graduation certificate.

4.  A letter of acceptance from a college or university.

5.  A self addressed stamped envelope for notification

How Winners are Selected

A scholarship committee consisting of two members of the Board of Directors and one or more non-board members will independently review and rank each application. Scholarships will be awarded in the order of the highest cumulative ranking.

Criteria used for selection

Scholastic Ability: SAT scores, grades, class ranking, honors, awards, etc.

Social Character: Leadership qualities, participation in activities/organizations, etc.

The FLEOA Foundation Scholarship Program is looking for eligible applicants. Listed below are the eligibility rules, requirements, and directions for the FLEOA Foundation Scholarship Program. Follow the directions below, fill out the application on the next page and mail it with all other required documentation to:

Special consideration will be given to those applicants who are the children of federal law enforcement officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. Hardships may be identified and may receive special consideration at the discretion of the selection panel.

Type of Awards

The scholarship program will be limited to grants of $1,000, each awarded to high school graduates. In 2008, The FLEOA Foundation scholarship program made 40 individual grants of $1,000 that was awarded to high school graduates.  In 2009, there were 24 individual grants of $1,000 and 22 individual grants of $500.  As the Foundation grows, we hope to expand the number and the amount of awards.

Applications must be postmarked by July 15, 2010.       Responses will be mailed by August 31, 2010.
